Makan Village

In response to school mergers due to decline in enrollment, Makan Village repurposes Eunos Primary School into an elderly-initiated learning centre. Addressing elderly isolation, it promotes active and independent ageing through social dining and food-based programmes and intergenerational sharing programmes. Dynamic layered spaces, open circulation, and participatory environments foster interaction with the wider community, reintroducing communal kitchens and dining while reviving the spirit of a kampung in a contemporary urban setting.

Tapestry of Flavours

Project introduction :
Located in the center of the National Design Centre's atrium, the space takes advantage of the atrium's excellent visual connections to all floors and the natural lighting provided by the enclosed skylight. it is targeted towards food and culture enthusiast, particularly tourists staying in nearby hotels. This concept redefines the traditional food market hall by incorporating individual stalls as vendors, allowing them to showcase and share the local food culture and the processes behind it. Tourists can enjoy a hands-on experience by cooking at the provided stations, warm atmosphere, while the varying  heights enhance the flow of natural light and ventilation.

90° NOOK

Amidst the stressors that define modern life, some may seek a brief escape from their daily routines. For most working individuals, this break is limited to a short lunch hour. This our team set out to design a discreet hideaway, a momentary escape from it all.  Hidden behind the pivoting walls found throughout on the first level, it is nestled in a quiet corner. The private dining space is accessible by diverting one's direction away from the main hall, a spacious double-volume area bathed in a natural light. Our team designed a temporary retreat from it all. A large opening reveals an outer walkway, offering views of traffic, greenery and passerby.

Serenity Cove

Project introduction :
Located in the heart of Outram Park area with its surrounding as SGH, shophouses and kampong bus terminal.
Design Concept:
The design approach is to design an urban retreat to rejuvenate the soul. To create an urban sanctuary for a gateway.
This being a therapy focuses on modern therapy which is mental health. Mental health being the main idea, there are
various programmes revolving around it which allows one to be in that space to enjoy the particular activity. Aftertherapy
one can rest at the cafe or the different lounges. Adopting the curve shape to give it a softer feeling from exterior
and using a double facade or horizontal louvres with wooden panels and green wall wrapping around the
building to provide some shade. The different floor slabs are slightly rotated giving different views and visuals from
standing and different points and also to break the massiveness of the building.

Z-PODS

primer hero shot 2.png

Z-pods is located near SGH which forms the connecting path towards my FYP building. The design proposal is to create a bridge with subtle  liveliness. To break and redefine the usual rectangular bridges we see and to increase circulation just within the pedestrian path. Z-pods also act as a resting spot where people can take a seat. This is also a pre therapy corner for people to respite in while waiting or to enjoy the 3 pods which is
a convenience store to grab a quick bite, a play area with piano tiles and wack a mole. The three different sitting areas are designed for different number of pax and privacy. The design strategies used are the coloured glass facade to add a pop of colour to attract people over, to increase the circulation and to break the normal pedestrian path using non- rectilinear shapes.

Petal Spring

My chosen typology is health & wellness. For my concept is to design a urban escape therapy and social wellness centre
for working adults and multi-generational family that can be seeked as a recharging stop.  So why therapy is to have a space with any activity that is stress relieving and
for that period of time to just focus on that activity to spend time on oneself. Social wellness-meeting spaces for
social engagement and interactions.

Clay tile by Ferticlay

The clay tile that I designed was inspired by leaves. Throughout the design process I tried to overlap 2 leaves and wanted to vary the different textures to aim for a wall tile used as a feature wall at home.

YDA competition

So this is the YDA competition, we had a brief with requirements from each family member. The theme I decided to go with throughout is Japandi. Japandi comes from 2 different designs style which is the minimalist Japanese and the Scandinavian styles. Throughout the designs the walls and floors have a lot of textures used such as light oak, limestone and textured wallpaper. Neutral colour palettes like grey, nude and matte black as accent colour.

Portails

hero shot final.png

The idea of individual islands, built of different shapes and heights with monorails as the main mode of transport withtin the site. These islands will be built on pot holes, which will help introduce a “living with water” identity to the concept of Typology A: An Urban Promenade.

With a large land area to cover, there were difficulties about the connectivity around the site. How will people travel from one side to the other? Is walking the only option? How can we make every corner more accessible?

Evergreen @Rochor

This is a project where the site is located along Rochor canal . My concept is to target the elderly which is aged 65 and above and are retired. My concept is to give a refreshed outlook on life for the elderly with facilities to provide entertainment and activities to occupy their time.

Jesmonite clay design

This idea was inspired by the narrow leaved flower petals. Since the flower petals only have 1 type of pattern why not add different patterns in each petal to vary the design and also to add more depth to it diagonally to add extra height for more variation. This tile can be used as a inner wall partition as a feature wall in a home.

Haven's craft

exterior 2.jpg

Haven's craft is the name of the building which houses a flea market cum workshop area on the first floor and an office area on the second floor. The workshop space allows people to learn about upcycling materials. For the first floor, I wanted it to be as welcoming to people as possible. Visitors to GUI will be greeted at the reception area and get attracted to visit and experience the flea market. The centre piece is the auction plaza which is also a place for “flash deals”, where stallholders will place their most prized product on display there as the hottest selling item. Moving to the second floor I wanted the office to be a friendly space where colleagues can interact freely besides working at their desk. I have included a staff lounge, pantry and a balcony for the staff to take a break and gaze into GUI surroundings during breaks. Since it is a flea market, I used curved roofs to give an illusion of a high ceiling and a sense of space. Louvres are used to provide shading and also bring in natural ventilation.

Senja Wellness center

This was a group project where we were tasked to attract more people towards the Senja 3G Wellness center. So my group decided to focus on rejuvenating the place by repurposing it and adding more activities to attract the residents during the day and night

DE STRUCTURE- LE-CO TRI

Our objective is to create opportunities for students to interact and showcase their creativity. The activities we chose are craft and play, catering to the cafe and provide a space for students to interact with. Hexagon shape is used on the bottom layer which acts as a base for the structure, creating a strong foundation. The second layer onwards are triangles, where students can start by con-joining the laminate pieces and the joints, bottle caps, together to form their own unique shapes or patterns.

KAMPONG FARM- Urbanlogy

This was a short group competition where we were tasked to educate users more about farming. Our objective is an urban farm that has a mix of traditional and technological aspects for people of all ages to be educated on urban farming. As the government said,” in 2030, Singapore plans to improve on food security.” Hence, our purpose is to educate participants on farming in both the traditional and technological ways, respectively, to ensure that Singapore has sufficient food for its people.

The glass abode

house.png

My design is based on 2 best friends who just graduated from university. They wanted a vacation home so that they would have getaway place to rest and relax away from their busy lives. My focus was the view around the area I have chosen. So, for my design, I wanted to include the bridge so that it blends in well with the area so I simplified the zig zag pattern as the outer exterior and to include the bridge I used the bridge truss to make it to make it skeletal and the remaining spaces on the exterior would be glass. The balcony area instead of using a door I used a window to replicate a door giving it the feel like it’s a secret entrance. As for the furniture on the balcony the table and the fence are also made from glass the table, I wanted to look like a bar table, so it feels expensive. As for the overall designed I have separated the first and second floor making it a block by itself so it can be arranged by how the users would like it making it very flexible. The whole house is very easy to build as you can build it piece by piece and after it can be unpacked easily to bring it to another area. The extra space is a movie area included in the living room beside the balcony to give it a cozy feeling to gather with friends for a movie.

Mart-it

This is an app created with my group to help housewives with price comparisons when going to the supermarket. Going to multiple supermarkets for grocery shopping takes up a lot of time so this app would help by comparing across the multiple supermarkets to save time so that housewives can go straight to the the nearest supermarket. There are also filters, rewards to have a better experience in using our app.

Biomimicry-Dandelion

This design is a biomimicry of a dandelion. The interlocking method in the end for my final structure and my proposed function for this is a park structure that could be for sitting. I tried to make it skeletal in different ways so that there will be different shadows.

Don't scorch your hop

This is a hopscotch created using sustainable materials  such as carpets and leathers. This is designed for families to play together and bond with each other and it can also act as a statement piece if not in use. The hopscotch is designed such that it is flexible so that users can form their own variation to increase the difficulty of each levels then it can packed up and brought on the go.

Cleaning mouse sponge

This is a product designed to help mothers or housewives make cleaning easier. This product has a extendable stick to interchange between each distance the user wants.  The sponge at the bottom is attached to velcro making it very easy to remove for washing.
